The Upgrade! Scotland is two years old, so join us to celebrate! As usual, there will be lots of art and technology dialogue this time, courtesy of the hottest new graduates from degree programmes across Scotland. Join us to enjoy refreshments, discussion, and to see some friendly faces.
Our presenters: Cheryl Field is a recent graduate from Glasgow School of Art. She builds kinetic objects that are whimsical and often play with the space between stillness and motion, and visual perception itself. She was awarded both the Glasgow Sculpture Studios Graduate Award and the Glasgow School of Art Chairman's Medal in 2007. Iain Gildea is a recent graduate from Gray's School of Art. His work is influenced by naturally occurring loops and patterns and the way these patterns can be broken down and mechanically reproduced. He subverts technology in his work by stripping down mechanical and electronic devices and finding new purposes for them. Rocca Gutteridge is a recent graduate from the Edinburgh College of Art. Her work uses technology to surprise and delight, with a touch of humour. She has received numerous commissions and was awarded the Helen A. Rose Bequest for Sculpture in 2005.
