They will be covering everything from zoology to science and technology. Find out what goes on behind the scenes and why theses curators travel to the far corners of the globe to seek new specimens for their collections.

Upgrade! is an international network of gatherings concerning art, technology and culture. At this LateLab we'll be exploring robotics, movement and image with artists and informaticians discussing their work.

Artists Nicole Heidtke & Stefan Baumberger of Edinburgh-based ~ in the fields will talk about their latest work in the context of the innugural Alt-w Design Informatics residency at Inspace which they have recently been awarded.

Prof. D K Arvind will talk about Speckled Computing which is a radical new concept in information technology. Subramanian Ramamoorthy will talk about autonomous decision making by robots in complex dynamic situations.

Skye

This happened is a series of events focusing on the stories behind interaction design. Tonight we present scent technician Erika Duffy, dancer Skye Reynolds, digital developer Ian Smith and researcher John Vines.

This happened delves into projects that exist today, how their concepts and production process can help inform future work. The Eris Ensemble will also premiere a new work by Tom Harrold for electronics and harpsichord.

Alan Turing

2012 marks the centenary of the birth of Alan Turing, regarded by many as the originator of modern computing. The T100 Twittest is based on the ‘Turing Test’ for artificial intelligence – re-imagined for the social media generation.

Twitter is perfect for this test as twitterers may not be who they claim to be: human, robot or Paris Hilton? To a background of wartime jazz from the Bill Fleming Quartet, the audience will have the chance to try the game.

And finally... a little something for the new season, we introduce our annual fashion masterclass weekend - StitchLab. We’ve invited teams of participants from each fitting of The Stitch Lounge to collaborate with a muse.

Each muse has been drawn from the fields of science or technology. Teams will produce catwalk ready ensembles for or inspired by them. They will have just one weekend and only the materials and machines provided.

Join us at LateLab for catwalk and cocktails and an extra special screening of 'Bill Cunningham New York', a cinematic profile of the noted veteran photographer revealing his remarkable passion for faith and fashion.

Introducing our new season of research on belief, Douglas Trumbull's 1983 film recalls the tale of scientists who invent a technology that enables the experiences of one person to be recorded and played back in the mind & body of another.

Christopher Walken & Natalie Wood star in this race to confront the "scariest thing any of us will ever face" whilst the Military do their utmost to thwart them at every stage, whilst developing their own nefarious uses for 'The Hat'.
